The Battle of Pea Ridge was a victory for the Union. There were various factors that led to that victor the North. One was that Confederate General Earl Van Dorn’s troops were already exhausted during their pursuit of Federal forces. Another was the shortage of ammunition among the Confederate troops who were not able to mount a successful attack against the Union troops. Another was Union General Samuel Curtis’ ability to read the movement of enemy troops and make the necessary adjustments.
