Known at the “American Original,” Babe Ruth was inducted into the baseball hall of fame in 1936. Throughout his career, Ruth played for the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees, and the Boston Braves. However, he is most known for playing right fielder for the New York Yankees. Overall, he played from 1914 to 1934.

Soon after attending St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys in Baltimore, he came to the big leagues and joined the Red Sox, where he won 89 games in six years while setting the World Series record for consecutive scoreless innings. After leaving the Red Sox and joining the New York Yankees, Ruth helped his team to win seven American League pennants and four World Series titles. Ruth retired in 1935, after a partial season with the Boston Braves. He ended his career with 714 home runs. 60 of which were made in 1927. Also during his career, he had 2,873 hits, 506 doubles, 2,174 runs, a 2,213 RBI, a .342 batting average, a .474 on-base percentage, and a .690 slugging percentage.
